Google Maps on Android Using Dark Theme

This bug will be fixed in the 2.6.5 release. In the meantime, if you’re having trouble with Google Maps showing a dark theme when it should be light, please make sure your Android system is set to a light theme.

It appears to be a bug caused by the latest Android system update, happening between the mapping software Cadence uses for Google Maps and Google itself.

As a temporary workaround, if you need Cadence to show a light colored Google Map you can change your phones system theme to Light (or rather, turn off “Dark” in the main Settings app)

I’ve received emails recently where Google maps on Android are showing the dark color scheme even when Cadence > Settings > Theme Style is set to “Light”.

This happens when Android is set to the Dark theme at a system level.

There haven’t been any updates to Cadence recently that would cause this to suddenly occur but I’m looking into what might be causing the issue.

I’ll be keeping this page updated as I learn more.
