Cadence 2.9 is out now! It’s a big update with several highly requested features, plus a lot of improvements under the hood. Update now, then read on for the highlights.
NO POWER METER NEEDED · ELITE
Estimated power
No power meter? No problem. Cadence can now estimate your cycling power from your weight, speed, the hills, your riding position, the road surface and the wind. Look for the EST badge. You can also add estimated power to existing rides.

WEATHER · PRO
Wind and weather
New weather metrics, plus optional arrows for wind direction and heading.
Wind fields can also be colored two ways. Wind Speed colors show how windy it is, from blue for calm to purple for strong.
Wind Strength colors show how hard the wind is making you work, from blue for a tailwind to purple for a headwind.

SMART TRAINERS · PRO
Smart trainer control
Cadence can now control FTMS smart trainers and indoor bikes in ERG and Resistance modes.
During power-based structured workouts, ERG mode automatically adjusts your trainer’s resistance for each step.
RADAR · PRO
Garmin Varia RearVue 820
Full support, including lane and vehicle size detection.
SENSORS · PRO
CORE body temperature sensor
Cadence now supports the CORE body temperature sensor.
SENSORS
Battery levels and reconnection
You can now show the battery level of your Bluetooth sensors on the Computer screen.
Sensors also reconnect more reliably.

APPLE WATCH
More reliable Apple Watch connections
Apple Watch and iPhone connections are now more reliable in “With iPhone” mode.
“Watch Only” sessions are also restored in case of a crash.

CALORIES · PRO
New calorie calculations
Calories are now split into active (the extra energy from riding), basal (what your body burns just to stay alive during the ride) and total (both added together).
New bike settings for riding position, road surface and e-bike compensation change how your calories are calculated. Sitting up catches more wind and burns more, rough roads and gravel drag more, and an e-bike motor does part of the work. They feed into estimated power too.
Indoor rides without a power meter can now estimate calories from heart rate.
